Windows Mobile is still alive
According to the details that published over the internet, applications that were developed for smartphones with older Windows Mobile OS will not work on the new operating system. Windows Phone 7 is a completely new platform that is very different from the older WM and that why smart phone devices with the upcoming OS will not run apps from version 6.
Applications are still being released for Windows Mobile smart phone devices but it’s a matter of time before it will stop. Windows Phone 7 smartphone devices will absolutely take WM place. Let’s hope Microsoft knows what they doing.

Bye Bye Pocket PC
Smart phones began to be distributed throughout the world countries while keeping the attraction of new customers to the Windows Mobile operating system. PDA devices are no longer being sold without a phone feature what makes it smartphone, no Pocket PC.
Windows Mobile operating system is going to grow but the Pocket PC devices will be extinct. In any case this does not mean the PDA features will stop; only that device will include the phone feature and will be called as smartphone instead of PPC.

Windows Mobile is an operating system that consumes many resources from the smartphone. Users who are not aware to that at times can find themselves without a storage memory on the device. Here 3 tips to help you save space on your smart phone.
When you install an application on your Windows Mobile smartphone, you may want to install it on an external storage (Memory Card). In this way, the smart phone memory space remains free for important uses and system updates.
When you receive emails on your Windows Mobile smart phone, it is possible to store the attachments on a memory card instead of the main memory. The size of those files can get very large and catch all of the smartphone main storage.
If you have the application Opera installed on your Windows Mobile smartphone, set a path of the Catch folder in the memory card. If you can’t do it, always worry to clean the Catch folder to prevent lack of memory on the smart phone.

Pocket PC devices always attracted customers to the Windows Mobile operating system. HP, one of the best known companies among these devices, also stopped to produce new PPC models like other companies. The main reason is the entry of WM based smartphones.
There is no need to worry as you can see, Pocket PC devices diminished because the technological progress has brought cellular users the smartphones. People don’t want to take two devices with them and want Windows Mobile OS to be included in their smart phone.
Some people still use Pocket PC devices but slowly they all start using smartphones. Windows Mobile is not expected to disappear and even the new 7 version is about to be released and will include more features than its predecessors.

The operating systems of smart phone devices are updated in a similar manner to those of PC. Windows Mobile is also blessed with new versions that come out on top of new devices. But can you install a newer version of the operating system on the same smartphone? The answer is complex.

The new WM OS for smartphone devices
Some Windows Mobile smart phone devices come with downloadable rom updates from the manufacturer. These updates may contain a newer version of the operating system. Installing operating systems on a smartphone is not like on the PC and it can be updated only with rom.
Another possibility to update Windows Mobile operating system on your smart phone is to check for Xda-Developers for custom rom. This forum belongs to programmers of WM-based smartphone and there is a downloadable third party roms in it.
Not all smartphone have updates for Windows Mobile operating system. It is not recommended to download rom that doesn’t fits your smart phone because it would cause a crash in the device. Smart phone users that don’t have OS upgrade for their model can purchase a new device with a newer version of WM.

Open operating systems were created to create a market that will develop improvements and updates to the source code thus creating new features on a regular basis to the smartphone interface. Meanwhile, the only open OS there is for smart phone devices is Android.
Smart phone’s Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems are still close. As a result, developers can not change the source code of these systems, but sooner or later they become open to not stay behind Android OS for the smartphone devices.

Asus is disappointing with her Windows Mobile Pocket PC, the A730, which does not constitute progress in ppc devices. This device has poor specification that will not provide ideal conditions for work. Asus could do more then this!

Shitty Pocket PC
Asus A730 has disappointing specification. The Pocket PC comes with Windows Mobile 2003 that is an old version of the operating system. In addition it has a 64MB RAM not sufficient even to open 2 programs simultaneously, compared to Dell Axim ppc that comes with 128MB of RAM. The device does not come with built-in WiFi tuner so you can’t enjoy wireless internet. The 520 MHz processor of the Asus Pocket PC device is its only advantage, but in combination with other specification, this is not contributing much.
Asus A730 is a big disappointment from a successful global company. I do not recommend purchasing this Windows Mobile Pocket PC device.

The device contains 256MB of Random Access Memory (RAM) that gives the device extra power for opening applications on Windows Mobile 6.1. Toshiba’s 3g smartphone also includes a GPS receiver that will provide you easy navigation on roads, and a 3.5 pixel camera that will give you a nice photo quality. The Bluetooth and WiFi are also built in.
Toshiba’s 3g smartphone really proved itself. Maybe it’s the processor speed or its large screen, but what is certain is that TG01 is the best Windows Mobile based smart phone that can be achieved this days.

Omnia smartphone - don't buy!
When Omnia was released to the market, the smartphone introduced itself as an advanced Windows Mobile 6.1 device that comes with amazing features. In fact it’s true. Samsung really released a device that provided the needs of the Windows Mobile users, but they did not know that there is a critical issue of the touch screen of the device.
At the first few months of using Samsung’s smart phone, the device is not causing trouble. But eventually the right corner of the touch screen will stop responding to finger clicks. If your Omnia still have warranty, the lab will replace your Windows Mobile device screen but if it is over, you’ll have to pay between 200$ to 300$ to get a new screen for your I900 smartphone.
Windows Mobile users always ask themselves what is more appropriate for them. Some users prefer the Pocket PC that allows managing information efficiently and some prefer the smartphone that lets all of that plus the phone function.

Remote desktop in action
Windows Mobile 6 Professional includes the remote administration application from Microsoft, through which you can connect the PC from your smartphone and its settings similar to XP/Vista/7 remote desktop software.
Big disappointment for smartphone users is the processing speed of the remote desktop application. It shows the desktop in 256 colors and very difficult to navigate on your PC because of the low resolution of the Windows Mobile smart phone.
In conclusion, Microsoft spoiled the Windows Mobile smartphone users with the remote administration software but I would not recommend using it because of the difficulty involved in its operation on the smart phone. It’s best to just use remote desktop software from another computer.

Many of us ask what is so different between WM5 and Windows Mobile 6 operating systems it is so similar and yet there are some differences that I’ll mention on this article. And we’ll start…

Windows Mobile Operating System
Windows Mobile 6, contrast to WM5, contains changes in mobile messaging. It allows display HTML email messages and allows downloading contents of one message without clicking on Send/Receive to all messages. Messages filter can be performed to show only relevant messages to the filter.
Windows Mobile 6 includes the Windows Live software pack which is not included in WM5. It also contains WM Update that let you download updates for your device it also contains Marketplace application that allows the user to purchase software and download it directly to the smartphone.
You can see the Windows Mobile 6 has some improvements over WM5, but they are minimal. WM5 owners should not upgrade their device to the new operating system from Microsoft. It’s better and advisable to remain with the existing device.
